I’ll keep this short and sweet. I needed a new digital TV and spent a couple of weeks looking, shopping, pricing for the most bang for my buck. I wanted a wall mount LCD with the largest screen, best picture (of course) for around $1,500. It quickly became apparent that the specs I was after was 1080p and 120hz. That quickly narrows the field to Sony and Samsung. Now, I’m a Sony Video/TV Camera and Commercial VCR fan from way back – we have several Sony rack mount units in our video lab but I have to say that Samsung now has my vote when it comes to LCD picture quality. I’m on Satellite since I live in the country and the HD programming is just awesome. Even SD (Standard Definition) programming is excellent.
The Samsung LCD that I’m raving about is the LN46A650 with Red Touch of Color. I bought mine for $1,507 which included free shipping. It arrived in 4 days just before Thanks Giving. The most common comment was about the picture quality and more specifically the depth of field. Even in older movies and shows theres a lot of backgound content that just wasn’t visible before.
Best Wishes for the Holidays
