Steve Beard's Internet Video Tips, Tricks, Tools,
Techniques, and Software

Hi
I think I’m pretty safe in saying that in
most cases where you take the time to create and put a video up on your webpage that your
have a purpose in mind. You want your viewer to be enlightened, informed, or motivated to
take some action ---- Click a link to more information or a sales page, show the next
video in a training series, signup for your list, or contact you. You want to trigger
viewer response!
Backward Thinking.
Planning your video and writing a script for it can get a lot easier if you work backwards
from that action step at the end of your video. Ask yourself, “What do I want my viewer
to do now”? “What action do I want her to take”? How Can I motivate or facilitate that
action at the end of my video. Do I use a redirect to automatically send her to
another page when the video is over or do I give her a guided choice?

Redirect
– The video players we use provide the option
to encode our video with a link so we can send the viewer to another location when the
video finishes. This could be another page such as a sales or order page or it can be
used to trigger the next video in a series, launch a popup, or a subscription form.
Very handy! |
As you can see, when you answer the questions above,
you’ve created an outline for the end of your video. Now you can script the appropriate
information into that outline and then work backwards from there to the beginning of your
video.

Guided Choice
– Tell the viewer what you want them to do – “…..for more information click the link
below, ……use the link below to download your risk free copy, click below to order.
Remember you can say it with audio and re-enforce it with text on the video.

Bonus Gift for You.
I found this yesterday while I was surfing for videos. I
was so impressed with the presentation and quality of information that I wanted to make it
available to everyone who’s taken the 9 Steps course. Give it a look!
Put Harrison Ford on your team.
Who said you have to use your own video? Look at what Equifax did with the new Harrison
Form movie “Firewall”. Remember to get permission – first. Look at their Learn More Box
on the right. Get any design ideas for your site?
